Backflow Testing
What is Backflow Testing:
Backflow testing is an annual inspection (required by the state of Colorado) that is the unwanted reverse flow of contaminated water through clean water in cross connection systems. A cross connection is between the public water system or potable water system. To prevent this contamination, backflow prevention devices are set up and consist of mechanical valves which hinders dirty water from reverse flowing in the event of a change in water pressure. These devices MUST be checked to ensure they are performing without any issues.
During a backflow testing & inspection we review all the check valves, relief valves, buffers, air inlet, and shut off valves to ensure all are functioning properly. The tests can take anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes per device. This test is required by the state of Colorado as backflow prevention devices are vital to keeping the water clean & free of contaminants.

Fire Pump Testing & Inspection
Fire Pump testing & inspections are a vital part to maintaining a sprinkler system and work together with fire & life safety systems to protect people, buildings & assets in a fire emergency. Fire pumps are required anytime municipal water systems can’t provide an adequate amount of pressure to meet the demands of a building’s sprinkler system. This includes high rises or buildings that disperse large amounts of water. Fire pumps are also required when water is provided from a storage tank.
Due to the extreme importance of all these systems working together, fire pump systems must be installed by qualified personnel including factory-trained technicians. A fire flow test is the measurement of the normal operating pressure in the water mains under normal distribution-system flow conditions (static pressure), the pressure in the water mains when water is flowing during the test (residual pressure), and the flow pressure at the outlet (pitot pressure)
